Dress of Bad Decisions

Influenced by the Waitress in Bob Rafaelson’s Five Easy Pieces; Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colours; my own plethora of bad decision’s and Maggie Murtagh’s dreadful relationship with her father; I have re-written the lyrics for The Vigilante Cannibal Nun’s Country Classic, Dress of Bad Decisions. I will perform it for the first time at The Body & Blood Live at The Courthouse, Bangor as part of The Open House Festival on Thursday 24th August 2023. Yeoooooooooooooooo.

I started off rich and I ended up poor

My daddy was right when he said I was a whore.

I look around and I wanna shag every man who walks through the door

But I’m the one walking home alone, as before

But this is now a sad tale, my stranger friend, to tell

I’m saving myself from myself and I’m saving you from hell.

My daddy was right when he said I was a whore.

What other reason is there to cry yeah baby give me more?

What are you gonna do about a girl who doesn’t conform?

Good luck asking me baby, to act your norm

So I spent all my money on feeding my creativity

Out of work and out of pocket is where it led me.

Despite the privilege I’m a working girl me

And my dress of bad decisions is like a badge of honour she

So I’m back to every bar in town to serve beer, coffee and tea

And all I see is failure as far as my eye can see,

So, come on baby, light my fire, I ain’t going to set you free

I’m on the edge of oblivion, who cares about you and me.

AAAAOOOOOOhhhhhhhhhhh

There is only one way to move on, and that is to

Wear my Dress of Bad Decisions cut low and long

Don’t you think it hugs my figure breathlessly?

And pulls around my little heart strings, letting me know that I aint gonna be free

I started off rich and I ended up poor

My daddy was right when he said I was a whore

Hi, I’m your waitress, what can I do you for?

My Dress of Bad Decisions is waiting to expand with one or two more.
